Sco·li·o·sis

Welcome to myscoliosis.org, an information site hosted by the Sonoran Spine Research and Education Foundation. Our goal is to further inform our visitors about spinal deformity in children and adults. Here you will find information about some of the more common types of scoliosis, including causes, challenges, conservative treatment options, and surgical techniques for correcting severe scoliosis.

Scoliosis (sko-lee-o-sis) is defined as a curvature in the spine from side to side (spinal curves in the front to back direction are called kyphosis – see mykyphosis.org). Many people have very small curves in the spine that are of no real consequence. A curve must measure more than 10 degrees to have the formal diagnosis of scoliosis.
